Letter from the team organising the work
As you may know, we were intending to complete our works today and open the bridge for traffic. However, we have very recently had some issues on site with excavation of the existing road deck, and so the completion date has now been pushed back to 31st July 2015.
Apologies for the late notice on this, I should have informed you about this when it happened last week.
For those interested in the particular reason for the delay, once we excavated the surface over the bridge we found a large mass of concrete around the gas main and to the sides of the deck. This was not apparent when we carried out some trial holes earlier in the year. Naturally, this caused complications with the design and required liaison with the gas company to get a solution. In addition, we also had to redesign the drainage/kerb layout.
Once again, my apologies for the late notice. Our contractor is in contact with Warwickshire Highways about the delay on site and the opening date for the road.
